Description

I simply can't get the title right !!

For me It is like an old memory which is aging down !!
U can still see it but not clearly enough(hence the grass is hiding the house) !!

An infra red shot !! processed with CS3 beta !! Noise & a bit of darkness is intentional, so is the obscuration of the house by the dried grass !!

Thnx for ur support in the nominations !! As always frank C&C is very much welcome !!!

Great atmosphere looming over landscape, as if to forewarn of an approaching storm. Dried grass provides a bright element that balances nicely against darkness of rest of composition, but its' intensity is rather strong making it pop a bit much more than dark dramatic areas of image. If these grasses were slightly dimmer in their intensity, then some detail might be visible. Currently the intensity isn't so much a direct result of their relative contrast with darkness, rather it becomes a bright area where details are blown out. Stone structure was a great element to have included, but its' mainly obstructed by grasses. A slight change in perspective may have provided more of structure, while maintaining grasses in foreground. Well done.

Beautiful contrasts! Love the grass ...:)

Beautiful contrasts. It is a shame the grasses obscure the building quite so much but I understand the limitations of certain angles.
Overall a very good shot!

Is your 350D modified to use IR or did you just put the filter on after you composed your shot? Nice work!

@Elite, GFXartist sponsor ThruMyEyez : Gary the obscuration of the house is intentional !! There was a clear view possible But as explained in the description i wanted it to show only parts of the house. I do have other compositions where everything is clearly visible !!!
@Elite, GFXartist sponsor Tommyguns : Not modifed for IR. But would sure like to get one in future :) !! Put u a PM !!

Great atmosphere.... infra shots are between b&w and color.... no problem with noise... looks like 800iso film :) title.... The White Light?

Reminds me of the wizard of oz in the begining before everyone made a run for the house. Love the contrast. With my personal taste though, the feeling i get with the tall grass itself is annoyance that i cant see the house. Not a put down at all, just the truth. Great shot none-the-less. 10 points

I stand corrected. You did well with your intent to partially obscure the house.

Great infrared shot and composition... I would like to see more of the building though. :)

I also want to see more building, too, but I love that THAT is exactly the point. It leaves us virtually craning our necks trying to see through the tall grass. Because of that, I think it's a masterful composition as is. It perfectly executes your concept, especially in IR. It looks very dreamy, like something you'd see in parital lucidity, where you'd try to focus on it to see it more clearly, and instead it would melt away right in front of you. As dreams and memories are nearly the same, I think this transcendental image works beautifully to convey your visual concept. GREAT WORK, Rushi! - jason

@ GFXartist sponsor jasonworx : I have been thinking about this for the whole day !! And i thought i had missed out on it !! But then only to realize if i were there again i would get exactly the same shot !! The very fact that everyone wants to see more of the house is what i wanted to achieve & now i have know a new way of composing :p !!

I also have learned another good lesson ! A description & title can make or break an image !!

Thank you guys, U rock with ur C&C !!!

This has an eerie feeling to it; I absolutely love that sky!
The grass doesn't suit the overall style, though. We don't expect grass to be white, so it looks slightly out of place here.

I agree with the others who are frustrated by the tall grass. That's what makes this a great shot.

Nice shot! My only critique is that the house is a little too much hided behind the grass.

Avatar Jewel

 04/27/07 @988

First of all, I love the title :p It seems to fit the image perfectly.
Now, onto the photo.. The clouds took my breath away.. seriously, I had a look at your gallery and gasped.
I love the sense of mystery that is portrayed by composing this shot with the house mostly hidden behind the grass. It leaves you wondering, and for a photo to linger in your mind like that probably means it has done its job beautifully!
I was just reading about infrared photography the other day, otherwise I would have thought it must've been snowing where you were to create that effect. Hehe! ;)
Well done!
