Description

This Wedding photograph is a collaboration between me & a friend  Gulmohor. Shot by him (with a bit of my help), i have post processed it.....
so all due credits to him... :)

A mangal sutra is an Indian symbol of Hindu marriage, consisting of a gold ornament strung from a yellow thread, a string of black beads or a gold chain. It is comparable to a Western wedding ring, and is worn by a married woman until her husband's death.

According to Hindu culture, there are five signs of marital status of women. They are mangalsutra, Toe rings, Kumkum, bangles and a Nose ring. Mangalsutra is the most important among them.

More at Wiki .... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangalsutra

And as always frank & harsh critiques are welcome.... :)

# EDIT : changed the title ....

Interesting clothes. Traditional, i presume. She has a very deep look in her eyes. Nice selective desat work. Good job!

A very good photo although I might have tried moving left to frame her eyes with the necklace or at least to get a clear view of both eyes. Only a suggestion and I do like the shot as is.

i love a good selective desat and this is certainly one of them, great capture, agree with Garys suggestion but still love it the way it is

A great picture, i only think the focus should have been more on her eyes or maybe the necklase... atm you are getting us to look at her flowers

Avatar Lenn0

 09/12/07 @460

gunners is right about the focus. The desat. works very well here. the mood is also very nice!!
I'd suggest a vertical composition. Now it looks too tight cropped :/ I think another composition will make her look even more sympathic.

else a very nice capture!!!

Thnx Gary for the critique, he did go for that shot too.. have a series of 3 shots here.. unfortunately the expression in her eyes is not anywhere close to this one... !!!

Hey Thnx for the comment Lenny, well why would U expect a bride to look sympathic on the moment of her wedding... ?? :p
Infact her eyes are full of dreams & happiness ...

Oh & i forgot to add that the hands in the shot are those of the groom.. so the crop..
And the thing that is hanging from his hand in the background on the right is a traditional element of sorts that a groom carries in his hand thoughout the wedding day.......

I hope the composition is justified now given the significance of the elements included in it........

gunnerssaid :i only think the focus should have been more on her eyes
well ur right about it.. the focus was on her nearer eye... so the flowers just stayed in focus as they were nearer .... was still using F/2.0 ..
the other eye was intentionally kept out of focus...
